“To be honest, I just don’t have the time or the energy to “sell” myself to people. If they just can’t hear what’s going on then so be it. I stopped using trickery and flashy licks during the last part of the 80’s to focus on developing my musicality and I knew it’d be a long haul getting people to listen to a strong melodic idea as opposed to a ton of chops.”
